This week we met with When Words Fail founders - Nicole and Danielle Benton. It’s clear from their blog and Instagram that the two chic twin fashion bloggers embrace life and inspire others to follow their lead. The self-confessed beach-lovers are notorious for their love of leather, an eye for up & coming designers and love for premium beauty products. Health and fitness are a key part of their lifestyle and they also love to travel. It is no surprise to find their blog posts inspired by anywhere from Bali to the USA.
1) What inspired you both to start a blog section for health and fitness?
Danielle: We were always being asked how we stay healthy and in shape, so we thought it would be a great idea to add Health and Fitness into our blog. It’s always a nice feeling when people take a genuine interest in what we do; especially knowing they value our answers.
Nicole: Dan and I started to appreciate health and fitness at a young age. Growing up in a beach environment, we would use any excuse to get outside and have fun. It was only natural that exercise flowed into this, and we’ve never looked back.
2) Fave breakfast smoothie or the fave way to take your Vida Glow Marine Collagen?
Nicole: We both love making smoothie bowls! They’re bright, yummy, fun and healthy (bonus).
This is one of our favourite smoothie recipes, we find the thicker the smoothie, the better!
- 1 x Banana
- Handful of frozen blueberries
- 1/2 cup Oats
- 1x Handful of almonds
- Sprinkle of ground cinnamon
- 1 x Tbs chia seeds
- 1 x Tbs LSA mix (linseed, sunflower seeds + almonds)
- 1x Tbs of honey
- 1 x Cup of almond milk
After blending all the ingredients, we place it in a bowl and top it off with flaked almonds, chia seeds and crunchy granola. We love coming up with delicious, new and innovative ways to include Vida Glow’s marine collagen supplement into our diets.
3) What do you girls do to keep your skin glowing?
Danielle: First off, we start every morning with our favourite beauty supplement; Vida Glow. I like to incorporate it into my breaky bowls, but if I know I’m on the go for the day, I’ll pop a couple of Vida Glow sachets in my bag, and pour it into my bottle of lemon water or over a fresh salad at lunch.
Nicole: I like to keep my skin routine simple. I’ve learnt that putting too much on your face can cause you to break out, there’s no need to oversimplify it. I make sure to moisturise every day and will always find a way to incorporate marine collagen into my diet. Staying hydrated is key, especially as it gets warmer in Sydney! I always make sure I drink at least 2L of water a day and incorporating lots of vitamins and anti-oxidants into my diet really helps.
4) What is your philosophy when it comes to keeping up on your entire wellbeing?
Nicole: If I’m genuinely happy, then entire wellness comes naturally. I think it’s important to be kind to yourself, listen to your body and find a health, beauty and fitness routine that works for you.
Danielle: Getting a good night’s sleep. I aim for eight hours every night, I know it’s easier said than done, but it really helps. I also find staying hydrated and active everyday helps.
5) Fave self-care ritual, (ie. music, walking, working out etc.)
Nicole: Long esplanade walks. Walking makes such a difference to your overall health. It doesn’t even have to be a long walk; I make sure to find the time to stretch my legs and go for a stroll every day.
Danielle: Hands-down, Yoga! I find it so relaxing and calming.
6) Your spirit animal?
Danielle: I’d have to say a horse.
Nicole: For sure, a dolphin (told you I love the beach life).
7) What does inner glow mean to you?
Nicole: Inner glow means feeling good not only on the outside, but the inside as well. It’s easy to forget that if you’re healthy and glowing inside, the rest comes naturally.
Danielle: To feel and look you’re best, regardless of age. Age doesn’t define me, or my glow!
